Spring Stripes by Kamie Kahlo

Jelly loves stripes too! Click on this image for a closer look!
Nearly every Spring, nautical stripes make a big comeback. Is it the thought of sailing away in the breeze, a gentle rain falling over the sail? Is it the dreamy low moan of foghorns looking for their first catch? Can't you just see the bridge open up at the ship canal to reveal a parade of white crafts? All of these thoughts make me feel just a little bit better about the prelude before Summer, the rainy days when I can wear those navy and white stripes.

My dog Jelly Bean brings out the animal in me. I took a trip to Meadow and found this darling bat-wing, leopard print jacket, Lily's special ordered OPI's 'Chopsticking to My Story' for me, and Cherry gave me these pointy Report shoes. I received oh-so-many compliments on my purrrfect outfit, I decided to share it with you!

New Moon, Ancient Sun by Kamie Kahlo

"I reached the edge of the pool of light and stepped through the last fringe of ferns into the loveliest place I had ever seen. The meadow was small, perfectly round, and filled with wild flowers - violet, yellow, and soft white. Somewhere nearby, I could hear the bubbling music of a stream. The sun was directly overhead, filling the circle with a haze of buttery sunshine." Stephenie Meyer, Twilight
Beneath the living room window is a massive cowhide that we have named, "Lucky No. 7" because the brand for this particular bovine was, yes, the number 7. I often find the puppies sprawled out basking in the sun on it and this time I thought I would join them. Since we just rented, "New Moon" I am thinking of the field where Edward and Bella lay silent. From the amber color of my eyes you can see that I am channeling the vampire in me. If only my Edward were here. Sigh.

It's all in the eyes. Sometimes the camera is able to capture the soul in side. Jelly Bean is lively and energetic, she only wants your approval; Lil Star has depth and experience beyond her years, her innocence lies beneath; Snoopy is shy and slow, a sleepy pillow. They are all my babies.

While I'm leaving my place to make a styling house-call, Beethoven and I notice some mischief in the dining room. "Down Jelly!" I belt out. But, this great outfit; a vintage tie-dye slip, a motorcycle jacket and boots have me feeling like EASY RIDER. "Peace" I say, "Peace little Jelly. I'll see you on the flip side."

How far is Sunriver? While technically it is 346 miles from Seattle, it might as well be a million miles from me because I CAN'T GO! Again! Every year this happens. I plan on attending D's little family outing and I have a job interview, or a photoshoot or, this year, the day before our departure we find out that no dogs are allowed. My little Maltese does not feel good about our move. If I am not with him, D says Snoopy stands in the bathroom of the house and howls till his little throat gets soar. I can't leave him or little Jelly Bean. I had to call my mommy and tell her that I wasn't coming by on the way to the resort. She sounded sad; she had to put away her Korean Bulgogi and special fish she was going to make for our dinner. I told her that I was missing daddy and she sounded concerned. "Oh I know," she said, "I missa heem too. Don't worry too muchie. You too skinny!" Truth be told, I really am a mess and I wish D and Lil Star would stay home but, I told them to go. Thank goodness none of them read my blog!

I have mixed feelings. I am moving out of my gorgeous townhouse and back into my darling little 50's rambler office and all. When you move from one place to another, you leave behind memories and begin new ones. There will be several posts for this. But for this one, Jelly and I were going through this year's collection of magazines and I pulled all of these ads for inspiration. I used to keep ALL of my fashion magazines. In fact when D and I met my headboard was constructed from stacks and stacks of magazines like VOGUE, HARPER'S BAZAAR, W and WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY. Of course the first move we made, he wasn't packing the several tons that I had collected. So, now every year I sit down with my puppies and pull sheets then I recycle the rest. One year, I had accumulated so many I was actually able to sell them. Made about $50!

Got my nails done Japanese style! Meiko from BEN'S NAILS worked her nail magic on my for about 2 hours! I have no nail polish on and the design will stay for a month or more if I don't want to change it. I have plenty of cute pink things in my closet. Take a look at this tee from AMERICAN APPAREL (you can wear it backwards or forwards for a lower neck), a sweet little DIANNE MEDAK mini, my DKNY pale pink pumps and to top it off- an adorable squirrel clip that Lil Star loaned me!
