The Best Revenge Is: Peace by Kamie Kahlo

Day two of my Revenge, I decided to make “Peace”. The meaning was clear here, a green gun exploding a flower and the words, “The best revenge is peace.” Go ahead, make my day!

This soft heather tee hugged my body and came down mid-thigh. I never thought recycled plastic bottles would feel this amazing, but it did! The checker at the grocery complimented me on the tee and when I told her what it was made of she commented, "Oh, must be expensive." When I told her it was only $32, she couldn't believe it! I think this eco-friendly company has another new customer thanks to Adelita Style and Fancy-Green.

Two organic, recycled tees from a company with strong social and environmental commitments are now mine. I’ll wear them well and with pride because fashion is pretty, eco is all the rage and a statement can be worn thanks to Revenge Is.

Revenge Is: Saving the Rainforest by Kamie Kahlo

I was picking up Fancy-Green’s publisher for a walk and she surprised me with two darling little tees for me to wear-test! Revenge Is makes hip recycled material t-shirts with eco and social content. And as if that isn’t enough, they donate 10% of their profits to charity.

The next day, I was saving the rainforest! A creamy smooth scoop tee and slightly puffy sleeves in sage green with a block-print of a tree, a cloud and raindrops topped off my jeans perfectly. The tee was a bit longer, the way I like it, so it peeked out of my cotton blazer ever so slightly. The whimsical print made the message I was wearing smart and chic!

In fashion a message is only effective if it’s great looking. Revenge Is makes powerful statements with delightful t-shirts that feel great too.

Sameunderneath Swing Jacket: Manic Weather Safe by Kamie Kahlo

The weather in Seattle has quite a reputation. My friends in California are just sure that it rains 300 days out of the year. While that is not usually the case, sadly this Spring it is indeed raining, raining, raining and quite chilly. So, it’s a good thing that Fancy-Green handed me this lambswool jacket from eco-conscious clothing company Sameunderneath.

The 95% lambswool in this jacket, as it turns out, is an all-weather friend! And, indeed it can be worn even through our tumultuous spring. The adorable Swing Jacket has excellent moisture wicking properties and doesn’t leave me soggy in our drizzley weather. Plus it breathes for those odd moments when the sun decides to come out. And in the midst of our weather’s bipolar change, the wind is no match for it’s natural resistance to chill.

Practical is all good but what does it look like? It’s sassy swing, two-button collar and sweet belted back make for a classic little jacket that can be worn for years to come in almost any weather.

Let Freedom Gleam. by Kamie Kahlo

I am INSANE for lipgloss! I have cherry, berry, juicy, gems standing like perfect little soldiers in a glass jar on my bathroom counter. I have sticky, gooey, slippery stains mingling in the bottom of my purse. So, it's no surprise that I jumped at the chance to try Revolution Organics Freedom Lip Gloss!

Gorgeous and good for you?! This vitamin rich, 100% natural lip treat is so sumptuous without the guilt. Have you heard all of those reports about how much lipstick and chemicals we girly girls eat over a lifetime? While I don't recommend eating this deliciously sinful lip treatment, (Yep, it's a treatment-bonus!) I do recommend reapplying as much as you wish.

I chose Freedom which is a sweet Strawberry Red. This gloss is slick not sticky so remember to bring it with you. But, like I said, no worries about indulging, this is 'good-for-you' color!!

Check out these nutrient rich ECO ingredients:
ORGANIC PLANT PROTEINS- organic plant proteins and extracts to deliver antioxidants and vitamins, ORGANIC OILS- organic jojoba oil, organic olive oil, organic sunflower seed oil, organic safflower oil to nourish and condition, ORGANIC SHEA BUTTER- to hydrate and moisturize, ORGANIC ALOE VERA- organic aloe vera sooth and soften, NATURAL PIGMENTS- pure mineral pigment for true natural color.

An organic lip treatment disguised as a gorgeous gloss; Let 'Freedom' gleam!

Dramatic Lashes without all the Drama by Kamie Kahlo

Being a stylist, one of my biggest complaints with mascara is the amount of product that comes out. It's either too much or too little. I like Mineral Fusion Lengthening Mascara's opulent formula. It's neither wimpy nor miniscule and the ample, chunky brush is the perfect applicator for any lash. Personally I have smaller Asian-girl lashes and my eyes have a tendency to be sensitive and water a lot. With this mascara, I didn't have any smudges at the end of the day. I didn't have to glob on a ton for day time either, just one application did the trick. If I wanted more drama, I would just reapply for evening. Because of it's soothing formula, no unnecessary chemicals here, my eyes didn't complain one bit. I got the 'graphite' which is a nice rich grey-black. This formula also comes in 'rock' a pretty chocolate brown. It's a great gentle mascara and I am one tough customer!

Makeup Before and After by Kamie Kahlo

The editor of Fancy Green asked me to use my experience as a makeup artist to review a line of natural cosmetics called Mineral Fusion. Since Miss E never wears makeup, she recruited her neighbor as a model. "This could be rough." I thought. But, I took the short drive to the destination with my styling kit in the trunk. When I knocked on the models door, she opened it and I was pleasantly surprised, "Phew! A good canvas!" I sighed. Natalie had a great complexion and sparkling eyes. Now for the makeup, would a natural, mineral makeup sold at Whole Foods be able to stand up to my professional scrutiny and general pickiness? See for yourself; Above are photos of Natalie in stages with and without makeup plus a terrific before and after! My favorite product was the velvety smooth Face Primer. It gave our model the appearance of an airbrushed, flawless face. Read the full review for Fancy Green here. Even the no-makeup editor was so impressed, she ordered some for herself. I explained, "The goal is to get your skin to look its best, not to make you look like someone else. Good makeup will do that." I'm so excited about this good-for-you makeup, I am hoping to get one of my Fashionista Club members a pretty surprise!! Stay tuned.

Loomstate Sends Me by Kamie Kahlo

Celebrating Earth Day is a breeze when I slip on Loomstate’s Rivera Dress in Ocean Blue. I feel like a princess swept away on her sailboat, basking in nature’s beauty. Sigh.

If only that were true. I’m not a princess but I act like one and the Rivera dress takes me there with its whisper soft organic cotton layers, open kimono sleeves and gently tied waist.

But wearing this dress and feeling like I’m on vacation is no fantasy. I can easily see myself strolling along my favorite beach or sunny boardwalk in style. During the day, I’ll just throw the "flutter sleeve" dress over my bikini and hit the sand. And for those evening outings the dress’ removable slip will turn my look from day to night.

It’s cloudy in Seattle this Earth Day, but I’m not pouting. Loomstate has a way of carrying me away. I don’t need a boat to take me there; this simple 100% organic cotton Rivera dress in Ocean Blue does the job. A dress that can take you on a vacation just by putting it on? Give me one in every color!!

The editor of Fancy Green was a bit miffed when she had to turn over this item to me! Read her review here.

Dreamy Organic by Kamie Kahlo

Organic by John Patrick sent me this boy tank in fawn (via Fancy Green). The first thing I did? Washed it! And, this is a secret, I put it in the dryer too! The tag says "hand wash and line dry." I say, "Who has time?" I have found that if you wash your super soft organic thingeez in the gentle cycle and tumble dry on low, quality garments like this buttery tank will hold up. Not very green of me? Well, that's debatable. I think if I am using a front load economy washer, I'm stuffing it to the max, and using warm or better yet cold water for both cycles, I may actually be using less energy. Line drying I can't beat. That is something to consider next time. Treat my organics with "green" gloves. Hmmm, I like it!

I slipped on my OJP bias cut tank on, zipped up my skinnies, tied on my pink
Pumas and threw on a pashmina and Juicy track jacket and headed out the door for my morning walk. If I didn't know better, I would have thought that I forgot to put on the tank. You see, it's so soft, you could swear you were naked. Really! It's that airy! The rest of my day was all about running around tying up loose ends that always seem to pop up near the end of the week.

I got home, made dinner, concentrated on what was wrong with everyone elses lives, you know US magazine, unzipped my skinnies, untied my Pumas, slipped off my Juicy and floated into a dreamy organic sleep thanks to my fawn tank from Organic by John Patrick.

Car Bag by Kamie Kahlo

You've heard of carpet bags, right? Well the editor from Fancy Green sent me this "Car Bag" made by English Retreads to review. I call it a Car Bag because all the "leather" you see is actually made from recycled car tires and it matches not only my little boy rain boots, it also just happens to match my car! I took it for a test drive while running from boutique to bank to studio. Because it's made from tire rubber, I recommend NOT overstuffing it like I tend to do. It's plenty tough but it makes it a little heavy. The Hybrid, as they call it, comes in 6 colors all of which happen to match the little Mazda3... zoom-zoom!

E.D. from Fancy Green sent me some darling little Keens to test. Yes, Keens! So I asked Sean if he wanted to take a stroll with me through the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle. We stopped by
Broadway News to take a look at their HUGE magazine collection (around 2,000). Next I tested my little Mary Janes on one of the cute sidewalk dance steps on Broadway. After that, we took a peek at some artwork at Seattle Central Community College. (Did you know they were named, "College of the Year" in Time Magazine?!) I learned a lot on my little test drive for Keen! Take a peek at my review at Fancy Green.

In Seattle (no, that is not Seattle behind me but it sort of represents how I feel when walking) you have to be committed to your walking routine. My friend Erika and I try not to let a little rain get in the way or in last night's case A LOTTA RAIN! I left the house in my STELLA MCCARTNEY Adidas rain jacket and came back soaked except for what Stella had covered. My legs were red for 2 more hours AFTER I took a hot shower. I think I need to go to my friend ERIKA'S SITE for some FANCY rain pants. You should too!
