Another Scary Outfit

I sat in the corner of the Crocodile among maudlin faces and took pictures. I felt pretty harmless but somehow I got the impression that I was not welcome. Did the room full of Democrats sense my political neutrality? Did they smell my undying love of fashion from their upturned noses? Did their dirty sneakers and awful loafers judge my pointy-toed phat lace up boots? Who knows! Sure a few familiar faces greeted me with warm hugs and sparkling conversation. It was the strangers that slowly backed away as I tried to start an informal tête-à-tête. I live in a climate that forces you in for months at a time! People in Seattle tend to distrust an animal such as myself. I did not grow up here. I grew up in the sun, which forces you out all the time. My comfortability actual makes people uncomfortable. My happy disposition is a certain sign of alien being. My lack of malaise is a perfect breeding ground for distrust. But the real clincher? My clothes! I wore a peculiar vintage crocheted halter under a fearfully alluring Sharon Segal burnout dress, a lace cardigan deceptively draped my shoulders. My Kensie boots screamed, “fashionista!” No wonder. The whole outfit was a dead give-away, especially the very politically incorrect peacock earrings; this odd pairing was certain to breed an environment of unease. I can’t wait for my next unsettling outfit. Can you?

Blancs De Blancs Wellies
Another great night with my bestie Dana and my hubbie D. This mid-January party out on the docks called for some sparkling Sophia in a can and plenty of Wellies. Hostesses Dana and Cynara made sure the girls were dressed to impress by holding a contest for best dressed wellies. I participated, of course, but not as much as the winner. She wore a cute hot pink sequined mini from Forever21 and scrumptious silver rain boots! Cynara showed up in extra shiny black ones, and I sported my little boy brown and black slickers paired with a gold accented cheetah print poncho from Betsey Johnson!

Focus on Photographer: Sean Watson and Model Crystal Loo

The talented photographer Sean Watson showed me a beautiful photo of a model the other day and I said I HAD to work with her. So he booked her for this test shoot. The theme was "In the Mood for Love" a Wong Kar Wai movie. I felt it was the perfect scenario for our romantic lead, Crystal Loo. For these shots she is wearing an elegant Dolce & Gabbana dress with Christian Louboutin patent purple pumps and a vintage necklace of mine. I spiraled her hair and then gently put it up in a chignon for a more sentimental look. The backdrop is Sean's studio loft where he sleeps. It doubles as a changing room for models as I transition them from look to look. Stay tuned for more photos of Crystal and a whole month of our feature photographer Sean Watson!Friday, January 29, 2010
Adelita Style 101: Hayley's Earrings
Let's bring this month to a close and take one last look at our feature designer Hayley Wakefield's Allure Earrings from MyRetropolitan. For this shoot taken by Sean Watson we combined fashion, sweets and puppy power. I love wearing Hayley's fun earrings with this delicate, lacey Ann Ferriday top and Snoopy loves Adelita Pops!!
Here is Hayley's description of these great portrait-style paper earrings: "Slink around in the image of this sexy silhouette, as you wow your friends with an attitude that these one of a kind paper lovelies can bring you! Not only are they completely bangin', they are also eco-chic, constructed of recycled chipboard!" They measure 3.5" x 2" including the circle top.
Snoopy is zeroing on the Adelita Pop but since they are made of yummy dark and white chocolate it's a no-no for dogs!

Mexico meet Avatar meets 57-year-old Frenchmen

I was compelled to write. This man knows about showmanship and he takes his inspiration seriously, err, at least, he takes it to the next level. Jean Paul Gaultier- I've watched " Avatar "and I was delighted with the painting. It came to me thinking about nature, ecology and the Latin American tropics, and then rised in my memory images of Mexico ..."Basket weave dresses, palm frond purses, fantastical sombreros, tropical florals and metallic head gear adorned the JPG's Spring Haute Couture Runway. Channeling Frida, the makeup was painterly and the braided hair Mayan style. Now that's Adelita Style!
